Net Warfare

A declassified document concerning the United States' "Information Operations Roadmap" was recently released. The 2003 document details the military's use of psychological operations (Psyops) as well as electronic operations (specifically computer and telecommunications). 'The Net' is viewed by the US military establishment as the most sophisticated weapon available to many potential enemies, stating "Strategy should be based on the premise that the Department (DOD) will 'fight the net' as it would an enemy weapons system." The military hopes to gain operational control of the electromagnetic spectrum, giving it the ability to knock out any electronic device any where.
