Fall From Grace

Sen. Joe Lieberman (D-CT) was a few thousand Florida votes from the Vice Presidency in 2000. His name recognition made him a valid candidate in 2004. Then he began to support winning the war and the political climate rapidly turned sour.

Here are a few snippets from his 2000 supporters (just search Lieberman & traitor):
  • "Gee, what a surprise the "Lieberman", traitor to America, has lied again."
  • "We need to get this Democrat In Name Only out of office as soon as humanly possible. What a turncoat."
  • "Traitor. Democrats will remember this when he runs for re-election... Most of his moves have been Republican-light."
  • "The war on Iraq has all the characteristics of Joe-momentum. Just like he didn't realize his presidential ambitions were in trouble, he doesn't understand the war in Iraq isn't going anywhere."
  • "A disgrace and a traitor."
  • "Anyone who votes FOR Lieberman is not a true progressive."
  • "He's not left enough and he's pissing a lot of people off."
  • "Lieberman agreed with (Don) Imus that there was some "nonsense" at the Coretta Scott King funeral. Poor Lieberman, agreeing with the Kool Kids so that they'll continue to like him."

The best for last:

How the mighty have fallen...
