Old Drafts

  1. About 14,000 are currently held in Iraq's prisons. Saddam emptied his jails and we're still rounding up thugs.
  2. Syria has ducked out of the spotlight since Hariri's assassination. Russia will pressure them if the evidence is convincing.
  3. Democrats pontificating on manipulated pre-war intel in the 06' election will most likely loss their races. Only the bluest of districts will buy that malarky.
  4. Cameras inside of courtrooms promote grandstanding. Audio is adequate.
  5. There is a school of thought which describes America as a neo-imperialist empire. Niall Ferguson is in it, I'm not.
  6. Tobacco is the first social demon of the 21st century. Another temperance movement can't be too far behind...
  7. "Motor vehicle crashes in the United States result in more than 40,000 deaths per year," says the Institute in the journal Injury Prevention. Prohibition on automobiles!
  8. When Ariel Sharon suffered a stroke, Pat Robertson said it was divine revenge for dividing the Holy Land. Mr. Robertson has chronic 'foot-in-mouth' disease.
  9. In February, an Italian judge dismissed a criminal complaint filed by Luigi Cascioli. After a local church printed that Jesus existed and was born of Mary and Joseph in Bethlehem and lived in Nazareth, Mr. Cascioli filed complaints of "abuse of popular belief" and "impersonation."
  10. Jack Abrahamoff was a lobbyist, not a Republican.
  11. The VPOTUS hunting fiasco was red meat for the left, but the center realized it was an accident.
  12. The three year 'anniversary' of the start of the Iraq War drew a whooping 1,000 protesters to Times Square in New York.
  13. "Our borders have overflowed with illegal immigrants placing tremendous burdens on our criminal justice system, schools and social programs. The Immigration and Naturalization Service needs the ability to step up enforcement. Our federal wallet is stretched to the limit by illegal aliens getting welfare, food stamps, medical care and other benefits often without paying any taxes. Safeguards like welfare and free medical care are in place to boost Americans in need of short-term assistance. These programs were not meant to entice freeloaders and scam artists from around the world," said Sen. Harry Reid while pushing his bill, the Immigration Stabilization Act of 1993.
  14. Venezuela has endured a recent wave of violence. Critics of President Hugo Chavez have blamed him for inciting class tension and for corruption within the security forces. Several high-profile murders have involved the arrest of police officers.
  15. Corruption in Congress: Bob Ney (R-OH) and William Jefferson (D-LA) are both under investigation. Mr. Jefferson's office was recently searched after the FBI found $90,000 in his home's freezer; authorities were granted court approval. This search was in no way unconstitutional, despite dubious diversionary tactics.
  16. Eiji Akiyoshi of the National Institute for Environmental Studies, near Tokyo, says reductions in the emissions of chlorofluorocarbons, and other greenhouse gases, means the ozone hole may disappear by 2050.
  17. The third longest river in the world, China's Yangtze River, is highly polluted. It is serious enough to garner state-media attention; "Many officials think the pollution is nothing for the Yangtze," Xinhua quoted a professor from the China University of Geosciences. Seems like an internal political cleanup is being primed as well.
