California Constitutional Preamble

We, the People of the State of California, grateful to Almighty God for our freedom, in order to secure and perpetuate its blessings, do establish this Constitution.
Has the ACLU been asleep at the switch?!

In a local note, my congresswoman, Susan Davis, opposes the Mount Soledad memorial because "it is about a demonstrated preference of one religion over all others. It is about a uniquely religious symbol on public land." She closed her floor statements with a quote about substituting public opinion for law - "This is the usual form in which masses of men exhibit their tyranny" (James Fenimore Cooper).

It is tyranny, Congresswoman, when politicians bastardize symbols because they are offensive to some eyes. How would you reply if France said the religious symbols at the World War II Normandy American Cemetery and Memorial needed to be removed?
