San Diego: now that
Tony Gwynn has been inducted into
MLB's hall of fame, we must start a popular movement to encourage a run for Congress. I remember first being impressed by Mr.
Gwynn after hearing an enthralling conversation with
Ted Williams on the art of hitting. That occurred in a time when the great baseball players looked like Tony and
Kirby Puckett instead of
skull-expanded granite statues. Every time I've had the pleasure to hear from him since, he's be adroit, affable, and highly respectable.
San Diego is a city on the verge of blossoming into global cultural center. It needs
the politics of people; not partisanship. It needs someone to tell Washington, with a clear
voice, that providing the world's best
healthcare for combat veterans is a civilian's patriotic duty. This city needs investment and modernization for its electrical grid, drinking and waste-water infrastructure, public transportation,
healthcare system, education, and a larger police force. San Diego needs Tony
Gwynn to lead the way in the United States House of Representatives.
Tony Gwynn for California's 53rd Congressional district!
Post Script: I don't understand the '
draft' craze; it makes sense for a ballplayer, but not
most others. Also, take a look at this ridiculously gerrymandered apportionment.
Take a look a your locale; I think districts should look geometrical instead crawling fingers.
