Without A Swing

The Democrat Party has lost control of the executive branch, legislative branch and now, judicial branch. Their party leadership has failed (Boxer, Feinstein, Schumer, Byrd, Kennedy, etc). They now stand on the precipice of irrelevance. How did the Democrats go down without so much as a swing? Their entire political strategy seems to entail waiting until the Republicans have so much power they squander it in excess.
