The Supreme Court: Gotcha!

"If the Democrats filibuster Judge Alito, the 06' election is going to be based on the law and its execution (no pun intended). Judges, how they interpret the law and form their rulings, will cause a fight of a supreme nature," - GOP political operative, 11/1/2005.

Released 1/11/2006 due to the strategic nature of the information (also, right-wingers love irony; 11/1 & 1/11).

Do you see Sen. Kennedy? They didn't tip their hand.

"To tip your hand"
part of speech: Verbal phrase
definition: Unintentionally reveal one’s secret strategy or resources to one’s competitor.
example: I don't want to tip my hand to her.

Game, set, and match. The Democrats are in a catch-22. Alito is too good to stop, as was Roberts. If they filibuster now, they will increase the conservative turnout in the midterms.

The makeup of the Supreme Court is supposed to shift right (Scalia, Thomas, Roberts, and Alito as the bulwark). I say 'suppose' because no one knows how nominees will turn out.
