As It Rolls Along

The fury over a cartoon (a cartoon!) involving the prophet Muhammad has spread across the Muslim world. Syria, Lebanon, and Afghanistan have all experienced violent public reactions. Muslim leaders have successfully depicted the cartoon as an affront to all Muslims and their beliefs. Family Guy and South Park both use cartoon depictions of Jesus in their respective shows. I don't think Christians will react violently.

It is just a cartoon. It's a singular interpretation.

I saw a picture of a Muslim man yesterday: he had a covering over his face and a sign which read, "Freedom go to hell." Either our brother misunderstands the abstract nature of freedom or he is devoted to tyranny. Cartoons are part of freedom because they are part of individual expression. I guess the ultimate weapon in this clash of cultural ideas is the cartoon.

Call the DOD. Release the Loony Tunes!
