I support science. Whenever some knucklehead says "NASA is useless," I ask them two questions: Do you have a mobile phone? Do you have a computer? The miniaturization and processing power needed to create personal computers and musical camera phones was spearheaded by... you guessed it, NASA.
Recent technological advance has been rapid; estimates, in years, range from a high of 10 to under 2 for how long it takes human knowledge to double. This leads some to think "soon, all will be explain by science." Only man could be so full of hubris...
Keep perspective; 'now' is a mere speck in the macrocosm and our understanding of what 'is' changes with the passage of time. The complexity of what surrounds man (creating each person's 'is') is derived from factors and conditions that are well beyond man's comprehension.
This is true for one simple reason: Freewill. Understanding 'all' requires quantification of the human decision making process, tailored to every living individual. Then figure out how everything outside of humanity happens. Tell me when you're done...
