Democrats have continued their empty criticism of President Bush's national security policy while failing to offer any substantive alternatives; 'strategic redeployment' is a synonym for withdrawal. I think Democrats have a fundamental misunderstanding of the situation.
"Let's face it: We're not going to win the war on terror unless we start making more friends and fewer enemies in the world, and we're not going to be able to protect the American people without a new strategy," Gen. Wesley Clark in the Democrats' weekly radio rebuttal.
Democrats seem to think 'if America was nicer, terrorists would leave us alone.' The US will make 'friends' with a foreign government when it actively works to stop the premeditated use of violence against civilians (a.k.a. terrorism).
"Security is the first promise of any government, and Democrats mean to help deliver it," Gen. Clark said.
Forgive my chuckle, General.
