*Just 6,500 Africans died today as a result of a preventable, treatable disease. (HIV/Aids)

I don't usually agree with Bono on political issues, but I applaud his philanthropy in Africa. In the future, Africa can either decline or prosper (with proper foreign support and investment). Does America want to have future generations of thankful Africans, saved by US food and medicine? Or should we cut foreign aid and ignore a continent as theoterrorism spreads into nations suffering from AIDS, food shortages, extreme poverty, corrupt & ineffective governments, and ceaseless armed conflicts fought by school aged children?

There's only 1 problem with your theory: no matter how much charity the US contributes, the beneficiary never seems to be grateful. They take our money and spit on our shoes.

I think the US should send aid, it's the right thing to do. But don't expect any gratitude.

Sudan has the worst food shortage and is the biggest threat to fall to terrorism.

Correction: Sudan is the second worst food shortage. Zimbabwe is worse by percentage of population.
