9/11

I'd like to start with a shot from the spot where I saw New York City burn.
September 11, 2001, will undoubtedly go down as one of the most discussed events in our nation's history. Historians will place blame for a tragic breach in security, but to assume sole responsibly belongs to a man less than a year into his presidency is devoid. Our security apparatus, and its methodology, was antiquated; the US system of IR policy (supporting nation-states) has been institutionalized in the post-WWII era. Violent non-state international organizations have been a shock to the system. They have no diplomats, but they do have financial and logistical sponsors (not to mention their 'hardware suppliers'). Of course, there are those who think Dick Cheney and Don Rumsfeld are so diabolical they pulled the wool over George's eyes and killed 23 NYC Police officers, 37 Port Authority Police officers, 343 NYC Firefighters, and roughly three thousand citizens... They are usually the ones comparing Bush to Hitler...
