DPF: GAO & CBO

The U.S. General Accounting Office (GAO) and Congressional Budget Office (CBO) are often quoted by politicians to denigrate the policies of their opponents. They are legally obligated to provide statistics to Congress and their analysis is often based on short-term conditions and circumstances. This naturally skews their long-term accuracy, but both parties seem content to ride the economic ebbs and flows of the reports because they both receive short-term political fodder.
