Election 2006

The dog days of summer have finally gone by and now it's time to clarify what will happen in November. For months now, Democrats have bellied themselves on low POTUS approval ratings, a low public perception of Congress, and a solid majority who consider the country 'on the wrong track'. Their list of Republican wrong-doing include conduction of the Iraq war (for which they've offered abandonment masked as 'strategic withdrawal'), the price of gas, Katrina, Abramoff, immigration, minimum-wage, and the GOP's legislative impotence (welfare & tax reform). They've also attacked the President for not stopping the nuclear programs in Iran or DPRK.

The problem for Democrats is their party hasn't offered any consensus solutions. Various wings of the party have offered different ideas, making it impossible to run the 'national referendum' their strategists desired. As a whole, it still isn't clear what exactly Democrats are offering if they become the Majority, and you can't beat something with nothing. Dems are confident, but they may be counting their chickens too early.

Labor Day Prediction:
The GOP will hold the Senate. They need something to crow about to keep the House.
