Alito, Pt. VI - One Day More....

In 2001, Sen. Chuck Schumer (D-NY) wrote a letter to the President referring the American Bar Association (ABA) as "the gold standard by which judicial candidates are judged..." That position is no longer valid for Democrats; the ABA gave Judge Alito its highest rating. Time to change your tune Chuck.

Sidebar: I've said it before & I'll say it again, Chuck Schumer is a blithering idiot.

So what are the Democrats going to do? Be mindful of their strategic goals. They are running a national campaign with hopes of winning back at least one house of Congress. Let's go over their themes; unchecked power & corruption (they go hand in hand), extremism causes by arrogance (again, too much GOP power), then tie the branches together and associate Republican nominees with their nominators. Along with their traditional depiction of conservatives (they'll eat your children!), the Democrats are putting out any information they find, hoping for a hot-button.

"It's high time people realized we conservatives aren't all Johnny Hatemongers, Charlie Bible Thumps, or even -- God forbid -- George Bushes."[2F02] Sideshow Bob Roberts (probably my favorite episode).

I was watching American Perspectives on C-Span last night. The guest was Edward Becker, a senior judge from the Third Circuit. I am quite irritated because C-Span's website isn't working correctly and I can't get a direct quote. In short (I'll expand when possible), Judge Becker heard over 1,000 cases with Judge Alito and described him with only kind words. It sounded a lot like my 12/29/2005 post.

Note to Democrat staffers: better start smearing Judge Becker!
