Part I
Today, the IAEA will decide whether to refer Iran to the Security Council. For it's part, Iran has remained defiant and bellicose. "If Iran's nuclear dossier is referred to the U.N. Security Council, (large-scale) uranium enrichment will be resumed," said Ali Larijani, Iran's top negotiator. "If they want to use force, we will pursue our own path."
US Ambassador John Bolton (whose appointment was opposed by Dems) has clearly outlined the concerns of the International Community, calling Iran a "comprehensive threat" because of their state-sponsorship of terrorism and nuclear aspirations. "We must be prepared to ... use all the tools at our disposal to stop the threat." He continued, "The longer we wait to confront the threat Iran poses, the harder and more intractable it will become to solve."
Iran ignored a Feb. 4 resolution to shelve uranium-enrichment work to ease the crisis. Easing the crisis is not their aim.
