Introduction to March 8, 2006 Hardball: The GOP House panel's rejection of the ports deal is the biggest story since 9/11.
This falls under The Greatest Ever sensationalism because 9/11 only stands next to Pearl Harbor in the annals of American history. In any event, Mr. Matthews, two wars began after 9/11 and are still being fought. One is under NATO military command and both are supported (and sanctioned) by pertinent UN resolutions. The media seems to be hoping both campaigns fail, thus creating a new media marker; much like Vietnam and 9/11 dominate today's media.
When I meet a person and they begin talking about the news, I love to ask "Where do you get your news from?" I almost always am familiar with the particular slant of the host, making it easier to be conciliatory on sensitive topics. It makes it easier to deal with random individuals.
